Is Goldman Sachs Still a Bulge Bracket?

Serious question… is Goldman Sachs still considered a bulge bracket?

Obviously firms have to lay some people off, but I’m not even sure that Deutsche Bank has seen things this bad. Also, they have this weird bald guy running the firm who’s a DJ and more focused on being “cool” to teenagers at Coachella and Lollapalooza than running a bank.

Heard the consumer business is losing $2bn per year - that sounds like a smart decision, right? Definitely need to pay Mr. DJ $30mm per year to burn cash.

What if the firm axe’d Mr. DJ instead of revenue supporting headcount? Mr. DJ looks like a big cost center and cost producer if you ask me.

Did an engagement with GS recently. John Waldron came and was actually solid. We want DSol out too, we just think he'll keep working for them because GS don't want him going anywhere else.

To the GS folks, what's the dynamic like between DSol and John Waldron (if anyone here has a sense)? For all the destruction DSol has done as CEO, what does he run / do / actively make better?

TF did DJ-Sol do to deserve that bad of a reputation beside the Marcus bs? Watched one of his interviews and he seemed like a decent person.

Rumor on the street is D Sol sent out personal "You're Fired - the Remix" mixes to everyone's voicemails. It starts out as a regular EDM track but then when the beat drops all of the sudden Vince McMahon blares over the speakers -

As someone who hasn't been paying attention to the IB space for the last couple of years, could anyone give me a quick summary of what DSol's done that so bad for GS?

Goldman Sachs is considered to be one of the most prestigious and successful investment banks in the world, and it is often referred to as a bulge bracket firm. The term "bulge bracket" is used to describe the largest and most profitable investment banks, typically those that are global in scope and have a wide range of services including M&A, equity and debt underwriting, and trading. Goldman Sachs is definitely part of the this group of banks, it is a global financial services firm that provides investment banking, securities and investment management services to a diverse client base, including corporations, financial institutions, governments and high-net-worth individuals. It has a strong reputation in the industry, and is considered to be one of the most prestigious firms to work for. It is known for its large, highly profitable investment banking division, which provides services such as M&A advisory and underwriting of public offerings. It is considered as a leader in the bulge bracket category and its brand and reputation are still strong.
