Is it possible to get Internships at GS or MS without referal?

I have applied in Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs for their summer analyst Internships over a month now but haven't heard back from them.

I have good GPA and have done Internships in botique firms. I do believe the resume is good enough.

Just a question does MS/GS consider application without a referal.

And what's the best way to get a referral.

Thanks in advance guyz.

Um yes and no? I’ve seen it but I’d say it almost never happens. And usually it’s not just a referral it’s a very strong referral from a senior VP/MD or even higher. The issue is without a referral then everything falls on HR for bringing in a potential “dud”. HR has to watch their back so they will only bet their name on serious candidates. Also your resume getting through the screening without a “push” almost seems like complete luck. There’s a lot to the process.

As for getting a referral theres no magic, it’s all down to grinding, networking, getting people to like you and again some good luck.
