Is it possible to get really good at a hobby while in IB?

Has anyone actually done that? Say you started learning guitar as an Analyst 1 and your group is not the sweatiest and not the chillest either, like 75 hours a week on average.

It would really depend on the hobby. Learning a new language with several thousand hours as a requirement is a stretch, but other stuff like changing a diet or learning how to cook or picking up a new sport is certainly feasible.

It is just that most people have their jobs, commute, personal stuff, shopping, cleaning, gf/friends, etc.. there isn't much time to go around for hobbies.

I play saxophone although I don't think I can be that Asian Coltrane dude playing some late night Jazzzzz at a divey bar making bank.

With a caveat that I am not in IB at the moment, I still do have reasonable hours of work, averaging 50-60 hours per week. Despite that I manage to fit in my hobbies of singing, reading, writing for a bit (apart from working out everyday) into my daily schedule. You should definitely be able to fit in a single hobby alongside of working 75 hours a week. However you should also be willing to give up on other distractions such as Netflix etc and probably halve your current social life if you go out frequently.

Totally agree. I think it's manageable to get good at a hobby even pulling 80 hours a week.

All distractions could be hard. I'll try.

Another thing is this hobby of mine now is coding. My eyes literally feel sore after staring at computers all day from work.
