Is my role MO/BO?

Title says it all. I just signed a 2024 SA with a MF (BX, KKR, Apollo). I'm not sure at all if it's a middle/back office role (operations/risk) since it pays really well - prorated $105k for 8 weeks.

If I can get a return offer, will they lowball the pay or will it stay at the summer rate? My end goal is HF/PE, but honestly don't mind working 50 hours/week with this kind of pay.

Difficult to answer since you didn't include the job description/title. But if it's 105k for 8 weeks, that's below the typical MFPE salary and time period for internships (usually 10-week internships with 110k+ pro-rated). So probably a back or middle office role.

There is a very low chance of lateraling from MO/BO to the investing side even at a MF. Hedge funds will be almost impossible unless you want to do investor relations there. If you like the salary and are fine staying in MO/BO, keep the offer. But if you want PE or HF, you need to re-recruit for IB or MM/UMM PE full time.
