this is a serious question...the reason I'm asking is that I am subscribed to the online version of these publications, and was wondering if someone in an interview asked me what was on the front page of the WSJ/FT, or what was some of the major news discussed in the paper version, will what I read on the online version be more or less the same as what my interviewer read in the paper version?

You are aware there is a "Today's Newspaper" link at the top of the FT's website, right?
Its the same for the FT. Just to double check why not buy the 'paper' FT and compare with the articles on the website. Since you have the online subscription, make sure you read the Lex/Editorial articles, in my experience interviewers tend to get impressed if you can give your opinions on specific articles/commentary from those sections.
yeah but generally you won't have questions on a specific article on the FT. they generally choose a general theme! reading the ft definitely helps, but the news posted online are sufficient even if you can't read everything that was printed in the ft. any other frequent interviewees can confirm what im saying

Is it sufficient reading the online version (free, non membership) of Wall Street Journal to keep myself up-to-date of what's going in the market or is it better to read the printed version?
just get the online only subscription all the info from the paper publication but through your computer
I've been using WSJ online & Yahoo Finance (Not a Finance major/ Knew nothing about the market a month ago) and it's worked very well. Watch the markets hub videos daily, track the S&P, DOW, gold, oil, look up housing stuff, stay up to date on easing and fed policy, and you should be fine.
Just go to wsj.com and if there is an article that is locked and only can be viewed by subscribers, you can highlight the title and paste it into google; a link for the article will appear after you search and you will have access to the entire article.

OK, so I don't know why WSJ hasn't done anything about this yet but....
when you come across an article that is behind the paywall, just type the title into google and one of the first several links will link you to the free version.
