Is this a rejection?

Just curious, I did final rounds at a top boutique not too long ago. I followed up with the recruiter this week saying that I had two other offers, with about 2 weeks to decide.

She responded saying that they are still looking at candidates (they still have campus visits to make according to website), and that they could not move forward with my candidacy at this time. She then wrote that if my situation changed in the next few weeks (regarding offers), to stay in touch.

Is this basically saying I'm out of the running, or just that they can't make an offer right now since their still doing recruiting? I really want this particular group, and will go balls to the wall with my contacts there, but if this is an nice way of saying your rejected I don't want to waste their time.

Thanks in advance

My take - you're still in the running, but they're not going to give you an offer w/o finishing up whatever recruiting they have to do. However based solely on your post, I wouldn't let your other offer(s) expire. Accept the offer whenever you need to and renege if this 'top boutique' works out.

Stay in touch w/ the recruiter and follow up again once your deadline is closer.
