Is WM+Insurance Internship in Sophomore year better than nothing if Ultimate goal is IBD?

Hey Guys,

I recently got a place for one of the largest British banks as a summer intern where I will rotate between PWM and Insurance and maybe retail if I do bad lol. For context I am in my Sophomore year, worked in big 4 in my Freshman Summer and so I will have two more years of study after this and one more cycle of summer internships to apply for.

I have read around in WSO that PWM is of no use for IBD whatsoever and that it is also a field where I might not prosper as non-white individual. I am not saying IB is all flowers, but I am certain that is where I wanna work after my graduation. I am thinking of this bank as a networking opportunities and try harder to get IB next year since I am only in second year but then I do not wanna hamper my chances by showing that I am not focused towards IB considering my past experiences.

Now my question is that if I should take this place or do something better with my summer? If so, what should I exactly do?

Thanks,

Anything is better than nothing…

It’s not hard to spin PWM into Banking, from working with singular individuals to fulfill their needs to working with companies
