I could be wrong, but it sounds a little like a form of strategy and project management.
Would you please enlighten me more regarding the difference between Project Management and Corporate Development?
Does not seem to be M&A related at all, unless I am missing something. Seems to be more of a FP&A role. There is no mention of valuation modeling, transaction execution, or target due diligence. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this does not seem like it would position you well for PE.
Hmm.. confused now. Honestly, the team hired only 2 for this division this year and the pure holding company has less than 300 employees, so the prestige plays some portion here when I consider future MBA.
Don't get me wrong, I am not knocking the position at all. It sounds like an awesome opportunity, especially coming right out of school. It could be fantastic for an MBA program, I am not informed enough to comment. I just wanted to be clear about it not seeming like a typical corp dev position.
Well, I can speak on the role of corporate development. Usually, a corporate development team acts as an internal M&A group that actively looks for new companies to acquire. Most of the junior work will consist of sourcing, preliminary due diligence, and maybe some modeling. This doesn’t seem to have any of those elements.
