Joining leading DCM HY Bond Team - work stream to expect / opps?
Hi guys,
Been working for a BB (ECM and M&A) around 1,5 years and now lateraling to another bank (#1 within the region in DCM HY Bonds). One reason why I make this move is to avoid burnout which I already feel closer every day (been brutal hours), but still remain in banking and get some rest as I know DCM hours are usually more chill.
What will the work stream look like compared to previous ECM/M&A experience and what will be the main differences?
Also, will this significantly decrease my chances of later moving to the buy side? Planing to do DCM for 1,5 years to get total of 3 years within IB and then move. I know I will miss out a lot of modeling but will practice this when I have time simultaneously and also already have some experience (closed 3 major deals) at my former BB bank.
Thanks!
I assume you're talking about JPM, in which case HY bonds fall under LF not regular DCM. Your buy side exits will mainly be focused on credit but JPM LF is as good a place you can be at (apart from M&A/coverage) when looking to switch over to buy side.
No the new bank is not a BB (JPM as you mentioned) but a leader in the region (European region). It’s part of the IB team, same room, and they do HY with corps and sponsors.
