Joining the team of a girl I (unsuccessfully) tried it with

Around 6 months ago I went to a bar and got f**** up, I saw a hot girl and went up to her and started talking to her. She introduced me to a couple of her colleagues that she works with and I got her number. After getting her number, drunk me did some embarrassing things such as asking her to repeat her number to make sure she gave me a real one (I've never asked a girl to do this before but for some reason, I just felt like she was too hot and gave me a fake number). This made it quite awkward and her and her colleagues were a bit like wtf that's weird.. anyway it turned out it was her real number.

The next day I didn't know what to text her so was sat at my desk and my colleague next to me grabbed my phone and sent her a text saying "hey its X from the bar, lets get drinks tonight" I was like "wtf that's way too forward why would you text her that" but there was nothing I could do now.

Anyways she never replied so a couple days later I sent her another message asking how she was but again I got no reply. She had her read receipts on so I could see when she reads it.

So in summary there's been 5 key awkward experiences:

1) I drunkenly chatted up my future colleague

2) she introduced me to a couple of colleagues which means there's going to be around 3-4 people in this team that might recognise me

3) I weirdly asked her to repeat her number in front of everyone and everyone found it weird

4) I (technically my colleague) sent her that forward text the next day

5) I sent her another message after and got ignored again

And now I'm joining her team with the colleagues she was with and I don't know what to do. It's been 6 months so it's pretty recent and they may still remember me, do I bring it up or do I pretend it never happened? Do you think they will remember?

Yeah but it might get even more awkward if you mention what happened, especially if it was as long as six months ago. Just confidently act as if this thing never happened whenever you interact with the group. They should essentially think that even you forgot about the incident. It shouldn't matter at that point. Heck she might even respect the confidence and start liking you.

If this doesn't work just use your best judgement based on the circumstances. I'm sure you'll be fine.

Tough one - I always pretend stuff like that never happened. But then I feel like an awkward tension in the air, so I’m not sure it’s the best solution lmao

Similar situation happened to me. Hit on a girl but she ended up having a boyfriend. One year later we end up getting employed at the same college bar. She told the manager on our first day and he thought it was hilarious, kind of became a funny joke around our coworkers. No one really gave me shit for it since she was an easy 9/10 and actually think some people had respect for shooting my shot.

It's just a job, we're all just trying to get a nut bro. It'll be awkward at first but it really doesn't take long until eventually it becomes a joke or unimportant.

Look it seems you are a bit insecure about yourself.

My advice to you is to forget about this experience or even better if you team does team drinks after work, be the first one to crack a joke about how you achieved your goal after all and because you are now having drinks with her and if someone hears it just briefly mention this story and that’s it.

Human beings spend most of their time thinking about themselves , not some else. I’m sure she has some embarrassing stories of her own she worries about rather than thinking “oh how I should make it awkward for everyone now that this guy is joining my team”.

Never show that you care. She isn’t your family. She is just a girl you tried to hit on and now work with.

It’s life.
