Jp Morgan Placement preference survey
Hi everyone. I have got a quick question, since I am very new to IB/finance recruitment.
I applied to JP Morgan's asset management SA program in London for 2023 summer, and gave the video interview back on September 14. Since then, I am waiting patiently for them to send a yes/no email, with the status of application being shown "In progress" every time I check the candidate experience page.
However, on 27th nov 2022, I received an email from them asking me to provide my preferences for the business area I would like to work in their asset management division. They provided a deadline of 2 days. I submitted my preferences the day after, i.e, on 28th nov, and in the email they stated the recruitment team will be in touch with me if I am due to attend an Assessment center.
However, it has been around 3 weeks since then, and I am yet to receive an email from them regarding an assessment center. Is there anyone who can guide me as to what's probably going on? Note that they never sent me a rejection email, and as far as I know, Jp Morgan sends either a yes/no email to candidates after hirevue.
Best Regards.

If those topics were completely useless, don't blame me, blame my programmers...
I am in a similar position, I applied for JP Morgan's Asset Management SA program and completed the video interview on the 26th of October, then they sent me a preference form on 31st October 2022 and then again on the 25th November 2022 and I still yet to hear anything back. I am not sure if that is a rejection, I assumed they were just taking long with recruiting until I heard someone at my uni had an Assessment Centre for Asset Management on Friday 9th December. However I don't think we should lose hope because perhaps different sub divisions have different timelines, and they may continue recruiting again in Q1.
Thank you for your reply.
May I know if your friend had applied to the London office of JP Morgan for Asset Management SA 2023? And did he also receive preference survey prior to receiving an assessment center invite? Also which sub-divisions did you choose in the survey, if you don't mind sharing?
Thanks.
No problem! Yes I forgot to mention it was the London office! In terms of my preferences: I chose Alternatives, then ESG then equities, what about you? To be honest I don’t actually know if they got the survey but I assume they did because literally everyone who applied to JP AM got it (many group chats I’m part of had people saying they got it). Also seen a couple people on LinkedIn get offers for JP Asset & Wealth Management over the last week. I don’t know if that’s the same as what we’ve applied to but either way it does seem like ACs and offers have started to be given out.
Well, for my preferences I chose Equities (1), Multi Asset Solutions (2), Alternatives (3). So it looks like, everyone who applied for the JP AM SA program from your school received the survey, and coincidentally even we received the survey on identical days, aka, 31st October and 27th November. So it kind off looks to me like an automated email, but I'm not sure since I just checked my application status on the candidate experience page, and it changed from "In Progress" to "under review". Not sure what that means, but I think they haven't started rolling out offers or AC's yet, and are still reviewing candidates' resumes. Plus, the deadline was on 27th nov itself, so its pretty self explanatory that some people who applied on 27th November, and just did the HV interview say a couple weeks ago, did not have their resumes checked/reviewed. So I think its better to keep our fingers crossed, and hope for the best, because I think its holiday season now, and recruiting managers will not be in office going through a pile of resumes, so I think work will resume in January, and we will receive any updates next month onwards. Plus I saw in a thread a couple of days ago that superdays in the US and AC's in the UK are scheduled in Jan/March. So hoping for a positive email. Also, to answer your query, JP Asset & Wealth management are different divisions. JP Asset management is a separate division, and JP Wealth Management is a separate sub-division within the private bank of JP Morgan. So people receiving offers for wealth management is not associated with asset management.
Yes it does look like it was an automated email and yes now that I think about it applications only closed a matter of weeks ago. And your right they definitely will not be doing any ACs for the rest of the year as it’s holiday season so we can hope to get invites in the new year, fingers crossed. Thank you for clearing up my misconceptions , wishing you the best!
Thank you, and wishing you the very best as well!
Do you end up hearing back?
