Does anyone actually gun for FIG? I know JPM has one of the best FIG groups on the street, but do people actively seek out FIG?

Have a friend in FIG and have heard they get a number of people who actually do rank it first. Since it’s FIG though the group is more picky and wants people who have a genuine interest in learning, interest in the macro economy, etc

Did placements last year, FIG is the largest group and FIG people actually hunt for interns (they are the only group that reach out to interns) for a call

What have you heard negative about M&C? (Generally curious, haven’t heard much about them). Will be going thru group placement as well

i think it's generally the same of every coverage group across JPM, sweaty hours, doing things that you dont enjoy, alot of pitch work, I know that M&C is one of the strong groups at JPM

They’ll give you a list of contacts right before the 2-week networking period. As soon as that starts, grind and start scheduling calls ASAP. You want to be “done” networking with most groups by the end of week 1 because you’ll be dinged by competitive groups if you don’t.

Up to you whether you focus on one group or spread out and talk to multiple. I focused on one competitive group and had 1-2 calls with few other groups I was interested in, but even so I had a total of ~15 calls over those two weeks before placing into my first choice.

Thank you for your insight! Do you know when will that placement process start? At the end of December of beginning of January? Thank you!

In regards to return offer last year it was around 80% HC, FIG, Industrials, M&C

If you like a group, be upfront about your interest in it and have a clear #1. Great exits are across the board in my experience, and you won't necessarily be limited by choosing something like FIG. I've heard anecdotally that Consumer & Retail offer rates were awful for summer 2022 interns (someone can feel free to correct me on this point if I am wrong), and it's a bad time to be in levfin and DCM if you want to do deals (though great if you value work/life balance, though the deal aspect could also be a bad sign for intake numbers).

Are you thinking more coverage or product groups?

This guy has to be trolling lol this is not true and not once have we asked them to write a press release / deal announcement for us, M&C is the "MT" part of TMT, they're just split up at JPM.

I have a few friends in the M&C group at MS and can confirm all they do is write press releases / deal announcements / case studies for other coverage groups. I know some M&C kids at JPM so I can confirm they do the same. Great WLB.

Not sure what you mean by "MT in TMT", never heard of those abbreviations but it sounds like a disease you'd want to avoid catching.
