Junior transfer student at a target school w/ nothing lined up for summer. What now?

Hi all,

I am currently a junior transfer at a target with nothing lined up for the summer. Just finished my first semester w/ a 3.78 GPA Out of the 100 transfers that were accepted, only 2-3 managed to get a IBSA position as far as I know. I could have had a spot at one of the Big 4s had I put in the work, but I knew that I want to do finance and ultimately banking after graduating and having accounting on my resume would not be that much of help. I am currently in the process of looking for financial analyst gigs in addition to contacting regional banks for a possible internship.

I am currently on winter break for the next month and want to be as productive as possible in this time. Is there anything that you guys recommend me doing in terms of what kind of positions I should be looking for and targeting if I was to not have an IBSA position? What I should do to best position myself for full time IB recruiting?

The above response is the answer. An extra 3 months in college is worth it if you're competitive but just got lost in the transfer shuffle. FT IB recruiting is much harder than SA.

Most people lose a year or at least a semester when transferring anyway, so I would reroute and graduate in December 2020. Your GPA is right where it needs to be, and to get into a target your previous GPA/resume was already strong.

If you do want to try again, your priorities should be 1. find sophomore internship (your current FA/regional bank options should be perfect, just let them know you're planning on graduating a semester later) and 2. start networking again... alumni from target especially. Reflect on any interviews you had last time around and how you can improve.
