Accept KPMG. Try for boutique/MM. reneg on KPMG if you get something.

Any IB >>> Big 4 if your goal is to end up in IB.

Above all else, if I see you post about being humbled to announce you’re a KPMG scholar… I’ll kill me fucking self. Furthermore, just don’t post anything until you’ve decided on something and won’t reneg.

What are the implications for reneging? We sent 50+ to BB/EB, but we also send 50+ to Big 4 accounting as well.

Dont want to be the sole reason school brand gets cucked

Interned there this summer so will give you the down low.

You don’t learn shit as an embark scholar. 1 week of training (at the lake house if Covid isn’t a big deal). 2 weeks each of shadowing advisory, tax, and audit. You literally do nothing. 1 more week of fucking around. You’ll learn absolutely nothing but make $30/hr

I, at most, worked 2-3 hours a day most days. I’d log on for a few meetings, send some emails, and that’s it.

Ahh i see. I noticed on your title it says ur an incoming analyst for IB. I was wondering did going to the embark scholar benefit your chances at a BB/EB/MM?

I qualify as diversity for only certain banks (First-gen college student). Thats why I can do the embark scholar program

I landed an offer before I even started embark. I would say it helped in the fact that I sold I would be in advisory and KPMG is a reputable name. The actual experience doesn’t help

Lol. Had literally the same experience and will also be going into ib next summer. Embark sorta sucks, so try and find something else, unless you want easy money

Breaking into IB can be a difficult endeavor as many of us can attest but once you have gained IB experience it is much easier to move around within the industry. I lateralled into IB from a valuation firm (non-Big4) and while trying to break into the industry I was consistently overlooked for other candidates that had at least some IB experience. While KPMG is a brand name and will position you well to recruit for IB, nothing beats actual IB experience regardless of the size of the firm. I will say that something is better than nothing so if you have an offer in hand from KPMG but not an IB offer take the offer with KPMG. Also, keep in mind that KPMG has an investment banking group.
