Last Summer Break

So it seems like a lot of people travel before work starts. I want to go to Europe using only my signing bonus. Does anyone have any advice or experience on how to have a baller trip for a month in Europe? I'm guessing I'll have 5-6k after taxes.

You're going to drop the most on airfare, but if you stay in a hostel you will spend next to nothing and meet some pretty unique people. Hostels definitely aren't for everyone because you typically only get a very poor bed in a room with about 7 other people and share a bathroom with double that. Overall you will have to pick between going baller on where you stay or where you party. $5-6k probably won't be enough to do both.

You can find a lot of great hostels online and see what people's reviews of them have been. I've stayed at nice hostels in great locations with bars downstairs and have met great people there, all for as little as 10 euros a night. Obviously you usually have to share a room with people, but if you get a couple of guys to go with you then you can definitely get a 4 person room to yourselves for a great price.

If I were you then I would try to get to a bunch of festivals while they're going on. Look at the San Fermin in Pamplona (running of the bulls), Dance Valley near Amsterdam, and a bunch of other ones you can search. Definitely go to Ibiza, hit up Barcelona, Madrid maybe, Prague if you can, London, and anything else you have an interest in.

Get a Eurostar pass that fits your needs and you take care of transportation with that. Ibiza is going to be the most expensive place to go to but is known as the best party spot in the world, so clearly worth the cash.

As a broke college kid who did the semester abroad, here are a few tips: - hostelworld.com: get a membership, save yourself the booking fee, and get the best and most inexpensive lodging for the cost. You'll save € and can see the most accurate reviews from all the other travelers, find out how close things are to attractions or transportation hubs, it's genius. - discount airlines (ryanair, easyjet, wizz air): each offers weekly deals for something absurd like 8€ where you can drop small change and get all across the continent. - pack light: you'll find you need far less when you travel, and if you want to make use of the airlines, they'll charge you more if you want to check a bag. Keep it carry-on and you're golden. - buses and trains tend to be rape in terms of cost, at least that I've found so far. The tradeoff is that you get to take more luggage with your ticket, but it's more costly.

More if I think of them later.

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.
