Late Game IB Recruitment

I transferred to a semi-target school this year as a sophomore and did not know much about IB, nor did I have a particular interest in it. Over the last few weeks, I've done some more research and had a few calls, and am interested in it. Additionally, I now see all of my friends recruiting and understand the appeal of the industry. I want to recruit but feel like it's too late at this stage in the game for a Summer 2026 analyst role. Does anyone know if recruiting at this point would be possible or worth my time? Is the MM timeline any different than BB or IB banks?

If you are recruiting for Summer 2026 IB summer analyst positions this is THE PERFECT time to recruit and land an offer before end of Feb but if it’s for this summer definitely too late, I recommend getting a position in anything close to what you want for this summer but also recruit hard for next year while you that cause it’s interview season in IB rn.

You can definitely pursue a solid MM internship at this point! Many banks have rolling applications, so it would be advantageous to apply ASAP, but some banks don’t actually close their interviewing process until much later in the spring, and even reopen during summer if needed. I would aim to start networking with MMs now before the wave of people turned away from BBs and EBs starts to pile up.

What aspects of the job is piquing your interest? To me it sounds like a little FOMO and not having an absolute clue what you're signing up for

In a similar position to OP…(disregard title) in your time as an associate, what’s helped you stay in IB? Like not quit after this long

It's not too late to recruit for a Summer 2026 analyst role. MM firms may have different timelines, but with effort and networking, you can still make it happen. Starting now gives you time to gain experience and connections.
