Lateral Banking Advice

Seeking the guidance of the wise monkeys who have successfully navigated the lateral banking path. Went to a target on the east coast and did SA at a top shop in NYC. Moved to a tier 2 city to do FT for a well-respected bank to build some savings. Realized by the 4mo mark that I don’t see a career in this super-specialized coverage group or city and want to move back to NYC where my friends and family are. Is there no hope? I’d appreciate any advice on how to make this happen!
