Lateral from Banking to MBB?

Did anyone here start in banking and was able to lateral to one of the top consulting firms without going to business school? I am currently an analyst II in NYC interested in making the transition to consulting over the next year or so, but would love to avoid racking up a $200k tab at business school in order to break in. What are my chances of finding success here? What would be the best strategy for landing a role? And when would be the best timing to go hard at networking/recruiting?
