Lateral regrets
Recently lateraled from a mid tier bb to a higher tier bb but only have regrets. Never would do again. Absolutely pointless and a waste of time

Agreed that if you're moving from something like Citi to JPM, lateralling makes sense only if you're planning on recruiting for exits and leaving within a year or two at the new platform. Otherwise if you have a solid relationship with your current team and sustainable wlb/culture, going to a new environment can be pretty risky.
Lateralling to a much better bank would be worth it, but here the bump in brand name is probably offset by the adjustments to new environment and having to build trust with your new team, at least in the short term
Sophomore here. Currently incoming at a regional boutique, but would like to lateral to EB/BB for FT recruiting or during analyst stint. Curious if this is common if exits are the main goal? You seem like you would be knowledgeable
id say not exactly common given the difficulty of FT recruiting which looks like it will only get harder given AI implementation. Are you asking if this is easy to do or reasonable to do given the opportunity?
Yeah I think I got blinded by the idea of jumping to a better platform from where I was because I also shaved off a year when I came over. I think I was on maniac episode when I did that when I was fine where I was
Can u elaborate?
I lateraled from MM to mid tier BB and already start to regret. It’s hard to adjust to new team, personalities, politics, toxicity and I feel anxious everyday
