Law School vs Off-Cycle IB
Friend is targeting a long-term buy-side career and weighing two paths:
Option 1: Pivot to a top law school with the goal of going into M&A / corporate law.
Option 2: Lateral from non-MBB consulting into either a merchant banking seat or a lower middle-market investment banking role.
Would appreciate perspectives on which path sets him up better for buyside exits (PE / VC / etc.), as well as any thoughts on tradeoffs (timing, probability, long-term upside).
