Law>IB?
I’ve read several past threads on this subject on here, but there are relatively few recent so I thought I’d start one. I’m graduating soon from a very non-target school with a couple of good (non IB unfortunately) internships under my belt, but I’m hearing a lot of sentiment that IB is not worth the effort these days, especially as I would probably need a target MSF plus networking to get in the door. One solid alternative in my opinion is a T14 JD specializing in securities/banking. Obviously big law has similar W/L balance issues to IB, but I’m wondering if anyone has advice on whether this might be worth exploring. Any of you go a similar route? Thanks in advance!
Don’t go to law school (and give up 3 years of comp or MSF time) if you don’t want to be a lawyer. Period. It’s possible to make the move, but going in with that intent is a waste of time and money.
From someone who left the legal industry: Absolutely do not go. Please read my past posts for further explanation. You have countless other options if you sit down, brainstorm, and have the discipline to teach yourself hard skills.
