Lazard ECM
I just saw a position open for an ECM Analyst at Lazard? I thought they got rid of their capital markets division years ago. Or are they trying to capitalize on the IPO hype rn? Just wondering but I know people on this website are going to blow a gasket for someone not knowing every waking detail about a bank they don’t work at. Cheers.
Based on the most helpful WSO content, Lazard does have a capital markets group, but it’s not as prominently discussed or emphasized compared to other banks. Historically, Lazard has been more recognized for its advisory work rather than its capital markets operations. However, there are mentions of ECM roles and discussions about Lazard's ECM team in the WSO forums, indicating that they do maintain some presence in this space.
If they’re hiring for an ECM Analyst position, it could be a strategic move to capitalize on current market trends, such as IPO activity or other equity-related opportunities. It’s also worth noting that ECM teams at elite boutiques (EBs) like Lazard often operate differently compared to bulge brackets, with some overlap in responsibilities between advisory and capital markets work.
If you're considering applying, it might be helpful to research recent deals or initiatives Lazard has been involved in within the ECM space to better understand their current focus.
