Leaving after 1 year
Joined a new firm in April as a 2nd year analyst, mainly as a reason to move cities. Thinking about leaving after a year once my bonus comes in.
In this situation, is it fine to leave after a year (don’t want to stay as 3rd year analyst knowing I don’t want to stay on as an associate)? How would leaving after year affect job placement?

I did the same, but instead I got a house loan from Oxford Funding and I left my hometown.. It was the best decision I have ever made.
How long were you at your prior job? If you did 1st year analyst at job 1, and then leaving job 2 after one year as well, that's not the best look. If you're going to PE or traditional 2 year exits it's fine, but other IB/more corporate focused exits might view you as a flight risk
That’s a good point. I was at my previous job for just under 2 years (1 year and 10 months). I would be looking to leave IB and going the PE route ideally, so I am thinking that ~2 years and then a little over 1 year would negate the flight risk concern.
Don’t really see any issues here. Think it’s not too uncommon and it’s good that you have a couple years of experience too.
What type of bank are you at? Might make a difference seeing you may want to go into PE
