I’ve been trying to music all my life but my family talked me into IB
Anyone left banking to do music or something completely unrelated to finance?
Will I be homeless or should I follow my dreams
Sober edit: want to leave IB to do something more 9-5 but worried leaving after only one year will look bad. Also can you even move to corp dev after only a year in IB?

Like making your own music? Why not just go get some 9-5 Corp dev or fp&a job and make music on the side? You could even try to find something in the music/entertainment industry.

Yea I make my own music/sing/play all my instruments so a dream of mine has always been to make an album. Looking back I guess my original post was misleading cause my hope was to move to wealth management or corp dev and use my free time to make music.
But also I haven't even started my IB job yet and don't know how soon I can leave…Just really sad about how I’ll basically have to abandon all this stuff when I hit the desk
