leveraged vs. levered
I was wondering if someone could clarify for me the difference between the use of the words leveraged and levered. If I am correct they are both used to describe the use of debt. I wanted to know when it is correct to use one or the other or if they are used interchangeably. Thanks...
I hear both terms quite frequently, though it's my understanding that 'leveraged' is technically the accepted term.
I tend to use "leverage" as a noun (they used lots of leverage), "leveraged" as an adjective (it's a highly leveraged transaction) and "levered" as a verb (ie "they levered it up 10x").
I have heard people talk about lever/leverage/leveraged exactly the same way ehf3660 describes.
