LevFin and Other Product Groups as Post MBA Associate
Do banks recruit for non-coverage, non-M&A associates at the post-MBA Level? Im talking about LevFin, RX, Structured Finance, or the more niche products/groups like FX Rates Origination at BofA.
Also any insights on what recruiting or general experiences on those groups would be helpful. Thanks.
They certainly do. MBA associates are hired across all divisions at BBs.
Not true, for many banks MBA Associates are only hired in coverage / M&A, not in cap markets or S&T
This is inaccurate. Never seen anyone transition from B-School to LF or ECM. It's either coverage or M&A.
fair enough. My BB takes summer associates (from B-school) in DCM, ECM, and LevFin. They hire those summer associates and take them straight out of B-school as needed.
I have several buddies that transitioned to LevFin as Post MBA Associates. LevFin and RX are fairly common as product options, rather than just coverage and M&A.
Lev Fin and RX, yes. More esoteric groups, no standard process. Might be able to land a FT role (and mayyybe an internship) but it won't be through OCR.

Structured finance here. No standard recruitment for our group. We get an analyst every year but that’s about it. No one in my group has an MBA
What kind of deals do you usually work in if you dont mind me asking? And this might be a dumb question, but is there a difference between structured finance groups and structured product groups?
