How close are you to your next bonus? You could try to spin it and say something like your bonus expectation in x months. Given your last bonus was almost a year ago, it was less relevant
The deferred portion of the bonus is due to be paid in 2-3 months, which is the part they will likely offer to buy out. The larger portion of the bonus is 7-8 months away.
I am lateralling and they asked for a proof of the bonus amount. Not sure why you thought it was smart to lie about it
Did they ask for proof of bonus because they compensated you for any of it? Or asked for it regardless
No they weren’t going to compensate it because I had just been paid by my current employer. They asked for the proof regardless (probably to check also what was my ranking)
Tell them you have signed to say you can not disclose
he already disclosed a fake #
My bank doesn’t tell us our promised figure? Say the bank would put it in writing
You can say that the bonus which you communicated to them was not final, it was a figure which was indicated to you during review. Just tell them they decided to cut down the bonus amount due to limited bonus pool.
Take this with a fat grain of salt: say you estimated your bonus, but the actual amount is not disclosed by the firm. Now put it back on the recruiter and ask if proof of last year’s bonus will work, noting that the estimate you provided for this year was based on last year as plus $X adjustment. The adjustment can be for whatever reasonable excuse you can come up with. Maybe rumors, internal conversations, etc.
Not sure if this will work but worth a shot now since you’re deep into this.
Silliest advice here to say you “outright lied”.. hilarious.. you negotiated and moved numbers a bit.. so what? Apparently you were in the bands or they would have kicked you already — plus performance seems to have matched that number during interviews… arrive at your own conclusions
P.S. banks don’t give a shit about 20k signing bonus difference if hiring a long-term front office employee…
Ask your current bank to make a fake bonus pay-slip. Easy.
