Less competitive compared to those you have mentioned, but also lower pay. To be honest I don't think 3 year pay will be great, 2nd year pay rise isn't huge because of how the grad. scheme is structured, also issues regarding state aid limit possible bonuses. Having said that Lloyds does have a very nice culture in terms of work life balance etc.

In terms of expansion, bear in mind the possible shift back to retail banking under Horta-Osório. As you mentioned I think they do have a reasonable DCM team. I think the work they mentioned was in regard to capital raising for building societies.

This is based on my experience in 2010 (before Horta-Osorio joined) so I am not sure how relevant this is.

so you worked their in 2010?

yeh but due to forced scaled back in retail (state aid so need to cut 632 banks) they want to expand their "investment" banking unit. If look at their hires it seems that way. plus i was told by lloyds managers.

yes they have split it into wholsale markets and trading and corporate banking. i think wholesale markets and trading is better you deal with bigger clients and do similar dcm deals to Bulge bracket firms. corporate banking is relationship banking on a corporate level.

But as you said and as I beleive is true 3 year pay not great? (anyone esle got experience). maybe pay will improve as business deals improve increase? and i agree state may limit bonus but rbs doesnt suffer as much so i dont know? grad starting is 40 i reckon after 3 years max would be 60 (including any bonus)?

yeh i get the impression the employees work less hours have a better life i mean if you worked dcm thier i cant imagin 9-9pm more like 9-7pm at lloyds.

what do you think or others think about transfer opps after 4 years to associate level at other banks i.e credit suisse, barcap, ??
