LMM exit opps

Thinking about when to jump from a solid LMM shop in a t-3 city. Currently 6 months into the job with a target school diploma.

Would it be best to jump in between the 1st and 2nd year analyst mark, or is it easier to wait until year 3?

Depends on a variety of factors, but between years 1 and 2 is a good spot, particularly if you have worked on a few deals (ideally a few that closed) and can speak to that experience interviewing at MMs. This gets you into the analyst class early enough to still recruit for some LMM PE or move up to associates with other analysts. The longer you wait, the more likely you'll have to spend a year proving your experience and skills are on par.
