London Career Path/opportunities

Hello,
I've been working for a BB in London for a year of my 2 year programme. I find the role i am doing very boring, it is not stimulating/challenging.
I've always wanted to get into sales and trading and have networked with a few people within my company who work in that division. My question is what would be what is the best way of transitioning over to sales and trading. I don't want my team/manager to think I'm ungrateful for the opportunity of working with them or cutting my program short for a different team. If anyone has had any experience or has been in a similar situation I'd appreciate any advice.
Thanks
