Looking for advice to structure: Why NOT med school? (Transition to IBD)

Hey all,

As always, thank you for all making this community and forum what is. Definitely an excellent resource for people at all stages. I wanted to turn this forum to try to get some assistance in how to best structure my answer to the above question (Why Not Med School?). Below, I will lay out some of the most high level points that are genuinely true. Appreciate any and all commentary!

  • Taking on Debt ; do not want to put the financial strain on my family to fund such an expensive endeavor

  • Time ; probably the one I try to stress, between 4 more years of just academic work to then residency potentially even specialization

  • Desire to work and contribute now ; definitely feel eager and confident in the ability to work and contribute right now, rather than having to continue studying

  • IB still provides a learning experience ; learning by the means of the work you are doing is far more appealing than strictly learning in an academic setting (Definitely one of the strong carry overs between the two is that you just learn so much and that is something I genuinely value and want to have the opportunity to immerse myself in)

  • Interest ; frankly, don't really have an interest in pursuing a career as a healthcare profesional, albeit a continued interest in healthcare

If anyone could provide any advice on how to best structure the points above. Definitely not sure as to how the idea of not wanting to take on debt come across to the recipient of the conversation, as I don't want to make it seem like an interest in IB = interest in money.

Thanks again!
