Looking for an IB Mock Interview Partner

Hi everyone, I am looking to get ahead on technicals for the EB 2023 summer internship recruitment processes. I wasn't able to find any threads on this yet, so I figured I'd post my own and see if anyone was interested.

Smart move. This (besides networking) is the best thing you can do to prepare. I did this with a few friends at a non-target and killed every interview I had and landed an EB SA position. In interviews, it's clear the people who practiced vs those who did not. It also helps you to stay on track for studying technicals. Anybody can run through technicals in their head for hours, but actually saying them out loud will help you better understand and see the process.

Rather stay anon and think more info shared here can help others.

My school had some presence across the street, but no on-campus recruiting. I got in the door through networking and with that I did a mix of both alumni and just cold emailing people that had some sort of connection (i.e. hometown, high school, sports, etc.) For you, I would recommend starting with alumni because they are typically more willing to respond and work with you. Then as you get more confident / understand how to network effectively and build connections, start sending off cold emails like crazy. It's a numbers game and you're hit rate will probably be low, but if you make 2/3 solid connections at each bank, you will be in great shape.

I would join your school's finance/investment clubs, try to get some sort of relevant internship after freshman and sophomore year (doesn't have to be IB, could be PE, AM, WM, etc, just needs to be finance-related), network with everybody and anybody you can (start with alum, then once you get good go for non-alum), hammer down the technicals, and have a high GPA (3.8+).

The biggest things coming from a non-target are networking, GPA, and extracurriculars. Unfortunately, many non-targets can't afford to not be involved at school and still land top SA roles. With that being said, it will be a grind and you gotta be willing to put in the hours networking and studying technicals so that if you are given the chance at a superday, you crush it.
