Looking for Life Advice

Hey everyone, I’m a sophomore at a non target school with super high GPA and outstanding extra involvement and I just started studying technicals, and I have wanted to do investment banking for the last couple of months. Another important thing to note is that I have not landed anything for summer 2023 but hopefully I will land something banking/investments related. My motivation isn’t here right now for studying technicals, I’m looking at MM and boutique banks which just seem more of fit for me. I’m considering potentially transferring (Duke, Georgetown, Cornell, Vanderbilt) because I feel like I would fit in better there and my career opportunities would be great regardless of what I actually go into.

I chose my non-target school because I thought I loved it. I’m super involved on campus and hold multiple leadership positions, but I don’t feel that’s enough for me. My parents really love the university and approaching them with the transferring idea is hard because they think I’m only transferring for prestige and because the schools I want to transfer to are “elite”. They also pay for my college, so I don’t want them to pay more if I were to go to Ivy or more expenvise school.

I’m really lost and don’t know what to do at this point in my life I’ve also considered taking a semester off, but I don’t know how my parents would feel like about that. Thanks for your advice in advance.
