M&A Consulting to IB - Possible?
I recently accepted an internship in the M&A practice of a consulting firm. I've been angling for IB but wasn't able to get an offer, and figured I'd accept the next best thing as it does sound very interesting. I'd like to get into IB still, but I've been told that consulting M&A has very little overlap with IB M&A in terms of transferrable skills.
With the right networking and GPA, how possible is it to transition to IB before/immediately after graduation for me?
I think that a jump from M&A consulting is definitely possible. It may not be easy, but you should be able to network fairly easily with bankers depending on your role.
