M&A to Equity Research possible?
Hello everyone,
I'm entering my last semester of my masters in Quantitative Finance and I have gotten an offer to intern full time in the M&A department at a local bank. Overall it's a great offer but the reality is that I really want to pursue equity research to enventually prograss into an investment management/Portfolio manager role. As it happens, around me (continental europe) there are no offers for internships in Equity Research at this time and it seems foolish to pass on this M&A offer and just wait for the possibility something might appear in ER.
My question is, is it easy to find a ER role after my intership, i.e., will recruiters consider me next to candidates with internship specifically in ER? AS I understand lots of skill, such as financial modelling, are present in both areas but in reality does this apply?
Thanks
