Market for IB Comp
Hi All - for senior / mid-levels in IB, what is your hours and comp over time (looking for non-American BBs). Thinking of moving back to IB from my current fund given career trajectory but wanted to get more color on ~ hours and comp (base / cash bonus / deferred stock bonus / any promotion bonuses or sign-ons)
Me so far:
IB A1: $160k
IB A2: $210k
PE As1: $325k
PE As2: $380k

You'd be brought in as an Associate so somewhere within this range:
ASO1: 175 / 110 = 285 TC
ASO2: 200 / 130 = 330 TC
ASO3: 225 / 150 = 375 TC
Deferals and/or stock are going to be very firm dependent so can't comment unless you have a specific firm in mind.
Finally a realistic comp progression.
“But my buddy cleared 450k at put as an ASO 1!”
I mean, this is probably the comp for a low paying MM or BB.
At EBs it’s ~$150k higher at each level.
Source: at lower EB and just finished associate years.
BofA:
ASO1: 175 + 50 = 225k
ASO2: 200 + 70 = 270k
ASO3: 225 + 90 = 315k
RBC I think is around $400k outta college
My comp progression for what it is worth. Starting at associate leaving out analyst stuff. I’ve been towards the top I think.
From mix of MM and BB:
A1: $300k
A2: $400k
A3: $500k (lateral guarantee)
VP1: $530k
How much of that was stock vs cash? What does next few years ~ look like?
20-25% vesting stock in A3 and VP1 years
Hard to say for future. Better year vs last year. Would hope to be at $625k all in for VP2. Could be better could be worse.
EB:
As1: 350-425
As2: 425-500
As3: 500-550
