MarshBerry IB Final round Internship interview

Hello,

In two days I have a final round 1 hour zoom call with 2 associates at a specialty firm, MarshBerry. They deal with M&As of insurance brokerage and wealth management firms. I have been studying basic technical, industry, trends and culture. Behavioral of course as well. What else should I expect for this interview? I have only been studying basic technical but does anyone with experience know how this type of interview will usually go? This is my first real IB interview. Thank you!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here's what you should focus on for your final round interview with MarshBerry:

  1. Behavioral Questions: Be prepared to discuss your story, why you’re interested in investment banking, and specifically why MarshBerry. Highlight your interest in M&A within the insurance brokerage and wealth management sectors. Use the SOAR method (Situation, Obstacle, Action, Result) to structure your answers effectively.

  2. Industry Knowledge: Since MarshBerry specializes in M&A for insurance brokerage and wealth management firms, ensure you have a solid understanding of current trends in these industries. Be ready to discuss why these sectors are attractive for M&A activity and any recent deals or market shifts.

  3. Technical Questions: While you’ve been studying basic technicals, it’s worth brushing up on M&A-specific concepts. For example:

    • Walk through a DCF or LBO model at a high level.
    • Discuss valuation methods (comparable companies, precedent transactions, DCF).
    • Be ready to explain concepts like WACC, EBITDA, and synergies in M&A.
  4. Role-Specific Knowledge: Since this is your first IB interview, make sure you understand the role of an analyst or intern in the M&A process. This includes tasks like financial modeling, preparing pitch books, and conducting due diligence.

  5. Fit and Culture: MarshBerry’s culture might emphasize collaboration and niche expertise. Be prepared to demonstrate how you align with their values and how you can contribute to their team.

  6. Questions for the Interviewers: Prepare thoughtful questions to ask the associates. For example:

    • “What do you enjoy most about working at MarshBerry?”
    • “How does MarshBerry differentiate itself in the M&A advisory space?”
    • “What qualities make someone successful in this role?”
