Maximizing potential for a return offer?

About to start my internship (off to orientation tomorrow!) and am freaking out. 1) no one in the office would give me a straight answer about what my day to day job looks like, so not sure which skills are best to brush up on. I am, to put it mildly, shitting bricks right now. 2) There's only 1 intern on my team (me), and so I'm a bit worried that with all the cyclical factors in IB right now, there's a strong chance I won't get a return offer. How can I provide the most value and contribute? I want to be a good intern that adds value and does their work well, not fucks around and does nothing all day. How can I do so, and indicate this to my team as well?

second ppt. also note taking, great want-to-do-more personality. no 1 is going to give you anything meaningful to do because youre slow and confused as an intern. but still make sure to bug your team about where u can help. make yourself present: coffee w/ mentors, staffer, higher ups. i literally grabbed coffee with the group head and im still kind of blown that i had such confidence tbh.
