MBA at (Harvard/Wharton/Stanford), HEC or Oxbridge?
Currently at a TMT boutique, and have an offer at a top MM (Blair/Baird/Jefferies) for Off-Cycle in Jan 2022 in EMEA region.
My plan is to work in the MM for 2-3 years then do an MBA and move to US to a BB Associate/VP level, a PE firm, tech industry or general senior management roles. But I am a bit uncertain of where I want to end up at the moment to be honest.
I come from a non-target UK university, so getting into these MBA programmes will be hard, but there is no point in doing an MBA if it is not a top institution.
Having a no name university on my CV is something that just doesn't look good, despite have 3 internships under my belt.
Question is, where is the best place for an MBA?
An MBA is the US will most likely be better if that is the country you want to work in, and having any of those 3 institutions on your resume will open a lot of doors.
I’d probably put Oxbridge in 2nd, then HEC as 3rd choice
Oxbridge sucks as far as MBAs go, undergrad is really where it’s at for those schools. LBS is the clear MBA leader in the UK. HEC is great in France and for EMEA but no one in the US knows what it is. If you want to get a job in the US you NEED NEED NEED to go to school in the US. Forget about GSB/HBS. Amazing if you get in but you can’t limit yourself to even just M7. There are other good B schools that are below the top tier that will do better for you than schools in Europe.
As a french chad, I can only answer HEC to this question.
US MBAs > INSEAD/LBS > Oxbridge / HEC. But consider this with the goals you have in mind - to be in the US, strongly recommend to be only looking at US MBAs.
