MBB SA -> (Solid) IB FT: How Feasible Is It?
Rising junior at a target/semi-target with an MBB SA lined up for summer 2027. Previously interned in PE and have been involved in my school’s investment fund.
Was pretty heavily involved in recruiting for several EBs/BBs but ultimately decided not to pursue IB due to personal reasons and uncertainty about what I wanted long term.
Since then, I’ve realized I ultimately want to end up in investing, likely public equities. I’m considering recruiting FT for IB after my MBB summer as a path to get there.
How feasible is MBB SA -> IB FT? How much FT hiring is typically available at BBs/EBs versus spots being filled by returning summers?
Also, when should I start networking? Should I start reconnecting with bankers during junior year / before summer 2027, or wait until closer to FT recruiting after my MBB internship?
Would appreciate any advice from people who have seen this done.
