Mental health support through design in IB-Please help its a 5 min thing

I'm conducting thesis research on how workspace design affects the well-being and performance of millennials working in high-pressure banking and finance environments. It's a 5-7 minutes survey

This study explores how physical design elements—like furniture, lighting, materials, and spatial layout—impact stress levels, productivity, and overall work experience during demanding periods.

The survey is completely anonymous and takes 5-10 minutes. You'll share insights about your workspace environment, stress levels, and how design elements affect your daily work experience.

This research aims to develop evidence-based design strategies for healthier, more supportive workplace environments in high-stress industries. Every response is incredibly valuable—thank you for contributing!

Based on the most helpful WSO content, workspace design and its impact on mental health in high-pressure environments like investment banking is a topic that resonates deeply. Many threads highlight how the shift to WFH (Work From Home) has affected mental health, productivity, and overall well-being. For instance:

  1. Ergonomic Workspace Setup: Investing in high-quality furniture like ergonomic chairs, standing desks, and proper monitors is often recommended to reduce physical strain and improve focus during long hours of work.

  2. Lighting and Ambiance: Poor lighting can exacerbate stress and fatigue. Natural light or adjustable lighting setups are frequently mentioned as key to creating a more comfortable and less stressful environment.

  3. Personalization and Comfort: Adding personal touches, such as plants, photos, or even upgrading home bar setups, has been noted to improve mood and make the workspace feel less sterile.

  4. Dedicated Work Zones: Having a clear separation between work and relaxation areas, even in small apartments, is crucial for mental health. This aligns with the idea of creating "dens" or specific WFH spaces, as discussed in some threads.

  5. Fitness and Movement: Incorporating fitness equipment or ensuring space for movement can help combat burnout and maintain physical health, which directly impacts mental well-being.

Your research aligns with these insights, and the survey could provide valuable data to further explore how design can mitigate stress and enhance productivity in high-stress industries. Best of luck with your thesis!
