Would go Amherst. I think for IB once you weigh for size they'll be about the same (maybe slight edge to Amherst), but Amherst alums will go to bat for you like crazy. Sure, more total alums on the street for UMich, but internal competition at Ross is significantly more cutthroat than at Amherst. Can't speak too much for PE/HF but I'd guess Amherst has the edge here.

Also, would caution you in saying you don't care about environment–I had the same mentality entering college then realized how important it was, and it led me to transfer after a year where I was much, much happier and more successful. Given these schools couldn't be more different. please actually take the time to visit both before you make a decision.

Go to Amherst. Way more optionality with way less competition.

Not a great datapoint but my friends at Amherst all didn't try to hard and landed good offers while the UMich kids grinded their asses off just to strike out.

A LAC offers a far more democratized network which is more responsive.
