MLB The Show 26 Retro World Series Guide at U4GM
David Ortiz is the card most players will have their eye on in the Retro World Series Program. His 99 OVR reward celebrates his 2013 performance for Boston, but there are three other 99 OVR players to pick up along the way. You'll need 50 points to finish the track, earned through 14 tasks. If you're planning to spend MLB 26 stubs on players for the missions, take a look through your collection first. You might already have enough eligible cards to get moving.
What You Get Along the Way
The rewards arrive at five milestones, so you won't have to wait until Ortiz to improve your squad. At 10 points, you get third baseman Brooks Robinson and 1,000 XP. At 20, starting pitcher Tom Glavine joins him, again with 1,000 XP. Bob Gibson arrives at 30 points with another 1,000 XP, followed by a Deluxe Choice Pack and 1,000 XP at 40. Ortiz and 2,026 XP arrive at 50 points. That's 6,026 XP across the track. All four player cards are unsellable, so think about whether they fit your team rather than what they might fetch on the market.
Start With the Moments
There are ten Moments, each worth 3 points. Finish them all and you'll reach 30 points, enough to collect Robinson, Glavine and Gibson. You'll also step into moments tied to Ortiz, Corey Seager, Albert Pujols and others. Read the objective before you jump in. Some ask you to hit; others put you on the mound. If it's a pitching task, work ahead in the count and mix your speeds. At the plate, don't force a big swing unless the objective calls for extra bases.
Build Your Mission Lineups
The four missions are worth 5 points each. Two are relatively short: earn 270 Parallel XP with Yankees players and 110 with Cardinals players. The other two take more patience, asking for 2,026 Parallel XP with Rays players and the same amount with Brewers players. You can work on these in offline modes such as Play vs CPU, Conquest and Mini Seasons. Fill your lineup with eligible hitters, then use a matching pitcher when you can. Extra-base hits and strikeouts help build progress, and you'll get more done if several eligible players are involved in each game. Check the program screen between sessions to see which team needs more work.
Keep the Longer Grind Manageable
It's tempting to leave the Rays and Brewers missions until everything else is done, but that can make the last stretch feel long. Set up those lineups early and use them while playing other content. If you're short on cards, check the Community Market for affordable Live Series options before deciding whether you need MLB 26 stubs for sale to round out a roster. Your collection may be stronger for one club than the other, so switch teams when progress starts to lag. Once Ortiz is yours, look for other active missions where his card can contribute Parallel XP.
