Are target prospects getting dumber?

AN1 at a MS/JPM/GS SF/Menlo as per the title. I’m helping funnel interns and have unfortunately had to chat with a bunch of prospects. One thing I’ve noticed is the discrepancy between target and non-target prospects. Target prospects seem to get less and less sociable as recruiting drags on, and chatting with them is, quite frankly miserable. They don’t understand the industry dynamics, have a terrible "why SF" answer, are horrifically stiff, and many of them seem really entitled. So my question to you guys is: what’s been your experience with targets vs. non-targets? Do you think non-targets are becoming increasingly competitive, or are the targets losing their competitive edge?
