MM Analyst offer or wait for BB vacancies?

I currently have an offer to lateral to an MM bank as an IB Analyst but was wondering if I would be better off waiting for BB banks to start recruiting more heavily in the new year. I have already spoken to some HR people at BB banks regarding potential openings and there seems to be interest there. Should I take the offer I have or wait for the possibility of a better offer?

I appreciate any perspective you can give!

Ask yourself: would you be more pissed if you blew the MM IB offer and ended up back in MO or BO? Or would you be more pissed if you blew the BB and ended up in MM IB?  If it were me, I'd take the MM IB becaues then you are IN. Just wondering if you're overestimating your chances of getting BB IB with no IB experience.

I am a first year, but not in IB. I agree with you though. I was just looking through some old posts that were similar and the recommendations were more prestige oriented, but that’s WSO for you I guess.

Thank you for your thoughts!

Hey, I'm not telling you what to do. But if you ultimately want BB, I think you'll be more attractive to them coming to them with IB experience, which you'll get at the MM. Especially in today's environment -- anyone who has IB experience and can hit the ground running has a much better chance of getting a job at BB/EB/MM today than was probably possible two years ago.
