Morgan Stanley M&A
Seeking some clarification on networking and the recruiting process for Morgan Stanley. It's my understanding (reinforced by a few current MS analysts/associates) that getting a summer analyst offer at the firm is highly contingent on knowing an MD. Meaning unless you have an MS MD pulling for you, most likely because they're an alumnus of your school, you have very little chance (if any) of getting an SA or FT offer. By contrast, at many other firms, I've heard that simply networking w/ analysts/associates can be good enough to get you an interview, at which point everyone is on equal footing. I go to a school that has an MD there who is heavily involved with recruiting, but he's in GCM (LevFin specifically) not M&A. Unsurprisingly, plenty of people from my school get GCM offers, but nobody I know has gotten an M&A one.
Would love it if anyone who has interviewed with/gotten an offer from MS (or better yet, who works there now) could validate or explain this trend.
If you have an MD of 10+ years pulling for you you’ll get an offer unless you are an ABSOLUTE sperg in your interview, if you don’t it doesn’t mean you won’t, it just means it’s more of a tossup than the kids who impressed a senior banker.
Don’t think that’s true
Do you know something to the contrary?
And MD will get u a first round but after that if you mess up youre out
Yeah, my school is technically a target for MS and zero non-diverse kids got an interview this year.
What school?
