Move into IB from BD ?

How easy/difficult am I likely to find transitioning from a BD role within an IB M&A team to an execution side IB role ?

For background I started as an BD analyst at a MM European investment bank a few months ago. I work within the IB team in a BD role and it’s small enough that I get decent exposure from screening, pre mandated pitching through to post mandate transition over to execution team. I also support the IB team fairly often with various in process P2P IPO …. projects

Given all that

How easy am I likely to find transitioning over to a purely IB execution role a little down the line?

Is pigeon holing myself a risk ? Should I switch sooner rather than later ?

Any advice would be great!
