Small rural super non-target state school. Graduated Cum Laude w degrees in Business Admin and Economics in 2021. Prior internship experience in E-commerce marketing and Boutique IB. Applied without test scores and was admitted to Simon Business School at the U of R and D’Amore McKim at Northeastern. Rejected from McCombs at UT Austin after they rejected my test waiver. Got a hefty scholarship for Simon (50%+), attended, ending up landing at an MM IB. Will be graduating in December.

I’m wary of recommending the MSF to people because I’ve seen my friends struggle to recruit for IB/PE out of the program. If you are from the US and/or went to undergrad in the US, you’ll have a significant leg up. While Simon was right for me given the timeline I wanted, I’d recommend looking into the programs at Vanderbilt, UT Austin, or MIT (if you have the time to commit to it). Georgetown also has a pretty solid program.

If you had to put Vandy, UT Austin, MIT, and Georgetown on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the best job placement for BB or EB, where would you put each of them?

Can’t say in any definitive way as there is not really great rankings for MSF programs and job placement reports for MSF programs are incredibly misleading. If I were you, I’d look at the Job Placement of their undergrad population if you’re looking for analyst positions and MBA population if you’re looking for associate positions and then make your own determination from there for yourself.

Also going to depend significantly on your prior job and education experience. Launching into an associate position from an MSF isn’t really a thing without prior Finance experience nor will an MSF guarantee you a job in banking in the US as its a degree thats not super common. You can browse this forum and find tons of different prestige rankings that will give you a better idea of your odds for landing in IB from that school.

How good is the placement for Vandy at BB and EB? I think I can get Vandy, but I can't find anything in between Vandy and MIT or Columbia on test scores. Although, I'm curious how much emphasis is placed on the verbal score if the quant is there...
