Multi Asset Solutions is a Dead-End!

Sorry for the dramatic title:

I completed a AM Multi Asset solutions internship and I didn’t like it. The team was amazing but I was looking for something more technical/quantitative. I became interested in the fixed income team but was too scared to ask for the transfer.

Will it be possible to switch to a FI role after the two year period?

Will I have to take a step back because I’d likely not have the quantitative skills?

What does a career in asset allocation look like?

 Thanks

I've been part of the firm in the past. The whole post just sounded familiar. I would say BLK has decent mobility especially after a year or two. As long as you have good feedback from your current managers and show passion in the switch I don't think it would be too difficult. I wouldn't make it apparent the second you hit the desk but slowly network and show interest as your 6-8 months into your stint. (Unless MASS has a fixed 2 year program like the other divisions).

Best of luck.

Hi - sorry to bump the thread. I have an offer from them; half my role would be systematic active equities focusing on ESG mandates (working on algos/capturing ESG signals (not a particular focus on alpha though) and harnessing research from the Sustainable Investing research), so a lot of Python coding, and the other half would be portfolio construction/TAA/SAA type stuff with risk budgeting. Is this what you are familiar with? I made a separate thread to ask about exit opps on this and was hoping you could help.
