Need Advice After Longish Gap

Hello all,

So I need a little advice. I graduated from a top target with a degree in finance around 3 years ago with a 3.8 GPA. I had some ok internships, but nothing spectacular. I wasn't successful in getting a full time job upon graduating, and went off travelling and volunteering for the last 3 years. Now, I don't want to travel anymore and want to work in finance in some capacity. However, I have had about 10 interviews with smaller places and no job offers or even second round interviews. What would you guys recommend I do? I am probably not the best interviewee but have been working on it. I suspect that the gap does not look good. Thanks.

While the resume gap isn't an impediment to obtaining interviews, it's likely hurting your chances when being evaluated side-by-side with candidates that are fresh out of college.

Finance jobs are hyper-competitive and candidates with non-traditional backgrounds will always need to be exceptional during interviews in order to compensate for the risk-taking.
